Schiacciata
The schiacciata is practically a pizza, less dressed and more crumbly. The dressing is usually made of fresh herbs and vegetables. The schiacciata that you can make with PizzaItaly must be about 0,5 cm high and can be dressed with rosemary, garlic, cheese, vegetables (added before or after the baking) or raw ham (added after the baking).
Base dough for the schiacciata
Prepare the dough as for a pizza and after the rising add to the base dough a little olive oil.
Ingredients for a schiacciata with oil and garlic:
- Base dough for schiacciata
- Two cloves of garlic
- Extra-virgin olive oil
- Salt
Directions:
Peel the cloves of garlic and mash them up. Pour the juice and the pulp of the garlic in a container and the pour on them enough extra-virgin olive oil and salt, mixing everything.
Roll out the dough to obtain a regular and thin circle of dough, about 0,5 cm high. Dust with flour and put the dough in your PizzaItaly. Pierce the dough with a fork more than once and brush with oil and garlic
.
Baking:
Warm up PizzaItaly and put the dough in the oven. Bake for about two minutes, until the schiacciata becomes brown.
